THE DAHLIA GROWERS MAP OF THE WORLD
On November the 1st I had a brain wave, I don’t have many, but this
was a corker. I was looking at the Yahoo Dahlia Group emails, I know you’ve
heard about them, and you think it’s not for you. Let me tell you, that is
exactly what I thought first glance. I even tried to unsubscribe myself at one
stage, but due to my incompetence in computering, (I no it isn’t a word but my
Spell-Check has been programmed to think it is) Any way, the brain wave I come
up with is this. What about if every member of the Yahoo Dahlia Group could see
where every other member was located in the World? They were a bit spread out
but I thought this wouldn’t be too hard for an intelligent person to figure out.
Before I could say Jack Spratt’s Cat’s got the fish, the deed was done, and
although it took a while for the least competent computer users to get on the
map, the thing has taken off like all good ideas do. Wanna know who the clever
person was that put the World map together? I knew you would; it was Don
McAlister.
Now this is the suggestion I would like to make to every member of the ADS and
NDS (I've put the Societies in alphabetical order) If you’re a show off like me,
do yourself a favour, and join the Yahoo Dahlia Group, if only to get on the
World Map of Dahlia Growers. Of course you can join in the debates if you want
to, if not you can listen in without taking part, and even find out what it’s
like growing dahlias in as far away places as Greece and Sweden. Now I’ve got
the hang of it, I must say it’s the perfect way of introducing the World to the
dahlia lovers. Do your best for me ADS & NDS and get your members surfing. By
the way because I was the instigator of the idea I've been made administrator.
Sounds a bit of a highfalutin name for an ex-painter and decorator, but as I'm
in charge help me out here, no suggestive remarks, or dodgy photographs. Not
that I'd think for one moment dahlia lovers would ever be into such things, but
I do have to warn you the programme will be vetted, and anything thought to be
unsavoury will be deleted. Unfortunately the map I was the instigator of was
dismantled and a new one, or link was made - I've tried in vain to place the
new link on my site, but fear there is something stopping me being successful - I'll
try once more, and if that fails I'll give up because there are more important
things to do than worry about a map.
