THE REST OF THE FIELD
Now far from lowering the tone, I’m going to give you a treat, from some very good breeders. Here are the varieties that made the bulk of the Welsh trials in numerical order.
Vanity:
Now this is a Ball, I know we are probably viewing it from the top, but it has absolutely perfect form, of course it would inherit that from Cornel being a sport, but better I think, than the sport Cor Geerling had from the same variety. This time it happened on the Halls nursery instead of in Holland, nothing more to say spot on.
Sugartime Sunrise:
I can’t help saying the form on this is incredible, a little loose but none the more a perfectly symmetrical, and a colour combination to make your mouth water. Whether it can beat the best of the tighter formed small decorative is another thing, beautiful, I like to call them `Open Decorative’

I’ve got to have a go at some of these, besides the wife likes them, very unusual colour bound to be in demand. This one has the similar colouring and shape of those original varieties from Mexico all those years ago, apart from the ruff.
Blyton Orangeade:
This looks to be perfect, placement and petal shape are what makes a good decorative, alright a little young but that centre will open and make a beautiful bloom with a subtle shade.
Blyton Eye:
Brilliant camera captures a special variety. Was it clock faced? How was this missed? The wonderful tips to the petals emphasizing the fantastic form, it looks as if the petals pull right back to the stem, so I don’t understand why it wasn’t in the frame.
Marston Velvet:
The form of this flower is incredible, reds are not easy to get right, this could go places. There is probably going to be a sport some where along the way, see the odd feather in the front of the bloom, but I bet you don’t get the sport Mr. Digweed sir. I would like to have seen it on a darker back ground, a very nice decorative.
Gilwood Terry G:
Nothing wrong with the form, really quilled, but the colours neither one thing or the other, God I don’t know how I’ve got the cheek to say all this, but it’s know good beating about the bush, as Wayne Holland would say.
