The Shauna Kay Dahlia
Named for our daughter, this beautiful dahlia was developed in her memory and in
support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “65 Roses®” is what some children
with cystic fibrosis (CF) call their disease because the words are much easier
for them to pronounce. It is the number one genetic killer of young adults. The
creation of this dahlia, in her name, is a tribute to her life and how she tried
to bestow beauty and love to everyone she ever met.
Shauna finally found her peace after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis in
January 2002. For those who knew her, and were touched by her caring and giving
nature, a new star shines in the heavens and now a beautiful flower here on
earth. She’ll continue to provide a brightness that will fill our lives with
warmth and energy as she did when she was with us. And because of her work with
the Cystic Fibrosis foundation, many young people who did not know her will also
benefit from her unselfish and giving nature in support of medical research.
I’d like to thank Ken Stock for his enthusiasm and devotion in developing this
special dahlia. A portion of the proceeds from the Shauna Kay dahlia will be
directed to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Your support can also help make "CF" stand for "Cure Found."

Shauna Kay Warter

1977-January 23, 2002
God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So he put His arm around you
And whispered, “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A ‘golden heart’ stopped beating,
Working hands put to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the Best.
