Jack Gott realised by many comments that he heard at the shows, that the general public look on our beautiful show flowers as flowers on sticks, and would put at the top of their flower list, those that can be used in a vase, such as this beauty, which is a floral arrangers dream. The growth of the plant is as you can see, ideal. It came second in a seedling class at last years National at Shepton Mallet, which speaks for it's self, especially as the variety is a single, and we know judges lean more favourable towards double blooms. For along time now Jack has been toying with the idea of breeding scent in the dahlia, okay we know Wayne Holland was probably the first to take this breeding technique seriously, but Jack was a close second, with this lovely variety he has taken his first step, it has a delightful scent as an added bonus. Incidentally one of the parents was Honka, he wouldn't tell me the other, good for him, he's a young man with a mission. |
