A BREEDERS SHOW PLACE
Everyone who knows Jack, know his passion after his family is dahlias. From a small beginning a number of years ago Jack has gained significant knowledge to produce new dahlias, regarded as show worthy. This year he gained yet another first in the Sport and Seedling classes at Shepton Mallet with a sport called Barbara's Yellow. It's remarkable how many sports come off of his land, it's just as if God has a hand in it, but I know even God wouldn't be able to do it without Jack's help. We all know his most famous sport Amber Festival, and it is known throughout the dahlia World. Check out the new dark leaved sport below, there is something about Jack's garden that seems to produce sports, be it something travelling over head, that's Jack's theory, he's on a flight path. Or is anything to do with the little people?
Now Jack has added yet another string to his bow, dark leaved dahlias, so popular are they with the general public it has reached Wisley's ears, and the organisers there are begging him to trial some of them next year. I think the mixed bowl of them at Harrogate influenced this, it was magnificent, beating bowls of doubles and Collerette's. In order to let the world see the place Jack produces these I have taken the time to do a small article about the photographs he has sent me. I should imagine the front garden he grows them in is a bees paradise, and the honey they produce from Jack's flowers is the sweetest there is. So follow me an enjoy the view as we amble through a breeders show place.

| A sport from one of Jack's dark leafed dahlias. | This is the basket Jack put up in 2004 at the National. |
The sport above looks to be larger and far more colourful than the original, I should think a floral artist would love this flower, I don't think there's another in commerce as colourful. The basket in the next photograph I commented on last year, I thought it was a travesty that it didn't get a sniff, however things have been amended this year, but you'll have to wait to find out how until the very last page.
