Jake's Pastelle.   Same variety under cover.

All the Pastelle's are fantastic show flowers, this one is know exception. Look at the difference in the one on the right, for that extra bit of protection. The Welshman I met at the 2005 Southern National at Shepton Mallet is bound to buy this one, as is every showman worth his salt.

  Joan Walker.   Jocelyn C.

Joan Walker lovely flower, all I'm gonna say is Hillcrest Hannah, but catch her on an off day, and bingo. Jocelyn C, wonder what the C stands for, is this an American variety, you get a awful lot of varieties named by American breeders who seem to be reluctant to give the surname away. I wouldn't dream of doing it, what's that? What about Sir Bobby `M' That wasn't his surname, it stood for maestro. Anyway enough of this tomfoolery.  Jocelyn C is a substantial bloom, great semi-cactus very pretty colour, plenty of centre, from the photograph probably three foot tall. Stands to reason Watson.

  Kea Lyn   Lakeland Sunset.

Lakeland Sunset: (SSC) Gold Certificate of Exhibition Merit and the winner of the Harry Howarth Memorial Medal. Raised and sent by Mr. B. Warriner from Cumbria.

October 26th 2005: As it's the best variety in the Northern Trials at Golden Acre Park, I don't think I did bad, okay I must say I didn't think this would beat all comers, but then the judges have seem them all on numerous occasions, and just like Charlie, this one did better than the one photograph suggested. Reminiscent to `Embrace' perhaps not as much colour.

October 16th 2005: I wish I'd had a better developed shot of Kea Lyn, I was waiting to see it in all it's glory, after the write ups, the colour is just as described only more so, think it will go places. Lakeside Sunset is one of those dahlias that keeps coming, plenty of growth, admirable stems, and good form. (And that was the probably the reason it did so well, know good having a variety that doesn't have many flowers)

  Lillian Alice.   Maggie Birt.

I'm glad I had a shot at the Collerette's, they are so beautiful, but alas I think it will be the last time I'll breed them. I have more seed from my Collerette's than any other group. I just haven't got the time to give to them, or the room. These two keep the tradition of this group alive, such wonderful cut flowers, and as show flowers our friend Mr. Kitchener has shown how versatile they are.

  Mary O.   Megan Dean.

Nothing wrong with the form of Mary O, guess it's another American variety, but I've got a feeling that this flower isn't typical of the variety, if it is no thanks, the forms good but it doesn't appear to have much meat to it. Unlike Megan Dean, fantastic form, colour wise like no other, and a definite ball. Look at the bloom behind the one that Geoff's snap, petals right back to the stem. Watch this space.
