HARVEST FROM THE 2010 SEEDLINGS

HOPEFULLY ALL WILL BE ON SALE FROM GILBERT'S IN 2012

It was obvious from the very first seedling that flowered in my seed beds here at Little Wisley in early July IN 2010 something magical was happening - whether this phenomenal year of seedlings was due to some spiritual happening associated with my plea when starting them on there way back in middle March, or the way I'd arrange the different groups leading Mr. Bumble and Co to stay close to these while gathering nectar and pollen. Although I don't recall 2009 was as good last year for seed production as 2010 I might be struggling to fill up the seed bed this year as I didn't collect half as much viable seed. I do believe weather conditions are the major factor in seed production - so this is something to consider. Despite reading more than one report that seed production is better later in the year and the seed is more viable I'll try to prove them wrong by trying to get most of my seed early in the year. This shouldn't be difficult as most of those planted will be from saved split tubers which usually flower a few weeks earlier. You've seen the 2010 seedlings I use for the charities  etc so here are the rest - I hope you enjoy them  - they are in no particular order, but colour co-ordinated for the sake of the page.
