Well I Never opening.   Well I Never full bloom.

Which is about the best lead I can give to introduce you to one of this years cactus seedlings called Well I Never - the name is just a working name, and mainly picked because of its development over the course of a week. Because when this seedling started to open it resembled a water lily dahlia, but by the time the bloom had opened it was a reasonable large semi-cactus. It will be very interesting to see what type of flower this one will make next year. I'd like to bet the cactus form will intensify, and the colour will make its mind up. Of course some varieties don't change much from the seedling stage - perhaps I should be saving just these? To tell you the truth I've thought about just that, but most times have to give those that try to make a decent flower  at least a second chance. Wanna see another example of first year flowers? Which was a really coarse ol' cactus at the seedling stage, but certainly made an effort growing its secondary blooms.
