Sweet Irene.   Bill Andrews.   Diamond Wedding.

If I've a favourite out of last years seedlings it has to be Sweet Irene I am willing it to do well, out of a Josie Gott and Kenora Fireball cross it really is something. Of course until the blooms come this season I'm not counting my chickens I've been had to many times. The novelty Kimono has been admired by none other than the Bressingham Gardens in Norfolk which I believe was started by that well known figure Adrian Bloom gardener extraordinaire.  They were also interested in Mayan Pearl, because one of their head guys had seen it growing at Wisley, and after I'd shown him various photographs that I'd taken said, none did it justice. Seems like I got of to a good start because I believe he is giving us a visit during August.

Kimono.   G. I. Bride.   Mayan Enterprise.

I felt I had to start the medium decorative pink with a G. I. prefix as it came out of G. I. Joe, and had improved its form by having a better centre. Mayan Enterprise was grown in the worse possible spot, and only produce two flowers so bad was the location, deep shade from around two thirty. All I hope is when it has it head it won't go all nasty on me, because the two flowers it produced were immaculate. As for the remaining two varieties Bill Andrews and Diamond Wedding, I'll keep all  my fingers crossed because I've been waiting to name a medium semi-cactus for a mate who died far to young, and the medium decorative is supposed to be for our Diamond Wedding day on August 13th, doesn't mean you have to send a card, but I tell you what if you'd like to send a donation to any of the three charities dahlias I'm running for the last year I'd be tickled pink.
