Once rooted the plants are moved to 7 cm square pots, and again if necessary into larger square pots until planting time.

The poms are taken early and I try to stop them early on to attempt to get the breaks needed later in the year.

April 2007 was really hot and the plants spent a very limited time in the greenhouse. The dahlia beds had been dug in February and were rotovated at the end of April ready for planting around the third week of May. Good old Growmore is top dressed at this time and lightly raked in. Being in Ramsgate, our micro climate does not see the extremes of hot or cold that the rest of the country sees and so a frost in May is just about unheard of. If the long range forecast looks OK and the lilac tree is in flower then I will plant.
