9 ARGYLE STREET,  LEYTONSTONE,  SE LONDON

Just behind the Plough & Harrow lies (or rather once lay) Argyle St. Here we see residents enjoying a tea party to celebrate the Jubilee of his Majesty King George the V.  Seven years later the area was traumatized when a Wellington Bomber crashed nearby killing its crew and five Civil Defence workers.   That’s me kneeing up right of centre, my mum is far right, and our aunt Francis is next to her, and almost out of the picture. The photo came from a book about London that a friend lent me, imagine my surprise when I opened the page and there we all were.
